Raymond Road Bridge closed for replacement

Emmett Township – The Raymond Road bridge over the Kalamazoo River is now closed for replacement. Raymond Road will be closed from River Road to Cliff Street. A map with an alternate route for motorists can be found here.

The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic by November 15, 2016. Additional construction work is expected to be completed by May 29, 2017.

The total construction cost of this project is $2,816,000, of which $2,675,200, is funded by a grant from the Local Bridge Program (formerly known as the Critical Bridge Program). The program pays for up to 95% of construction costs through a combination of federal and state funds (80% and 15%, respectively). The Calhoun County Road Department is providing the remaining 5% of construction costs, which is $140,800, as well as funding all design, inspection, and administration expenses, which are estimated to be 5-8% of construction costs.
