Emmett Township– Construction on the Raymond Road Bridge Replacement Project over the Kalamazoo River will be ending for the winter season on or about December 16, 2016. Work on this project will resume in the spring of 2017.
Raymond Road, between M-96 (E. Columbia Avenue) and River Road, will remain closed to traffic until this project is completed. Completion of the bridge is expected in the late spring or early summer of 2017.
The total preliminary construction cost of this project was estimated at $2,816,000, of which $2,675,200 is funded by a grant from the Local Bridge Program (formerly known as the Critical Bridge Program). The program pays for up to 95% of construction costs through a combination of federal and state funds (80% and 15%, respectively).
The Calhoun County Road Department (CCRD) is providing the remaining construction costs and is funding all design, inspection and administration expenses.
