Historic Bridge Park is closed to the public until further notice so crews can continue cleanup and assessment efforts from last year’s oil spill.

The oil found it’s way into Talmadge creek, a tributary to the Kalamazoo River.

The park was officially closed by the county health department on July 27, 2010.

Over 840,000 gallons of oil leaked last July when a 30-inch crude oil pipeline, operated by Enbridge Energy, broke near Marshall, leading to one of the largest environmental disasters ever in Michigan.
