Seasonal weight restrictions in effect Feb. 17

Seasonal weight restrictions for Calhoun County will go into effect on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 6:00 a.m.

Public Act 300 of 1949 of the Michigan Vehicle Code – Seasonal weight restrictions help to preserve and protect against the wear and tear on roads caused by winter thaw and heavy vehicles.  During the seasonal weight restrictions period, State Law requires that maximum axle loads be reduced by 35%.  Restrictions will not be lifted until the potential for road damage no longer exists.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan State Police may enforce seasonal weight and speed reductions during Frost Law Season.
