Starting Monday, the Michigan Department of Transportation will begin repaving I-69 under P Drive South. They say the $250,000 project will include guardrail upgrades and some approach work.

MDOT says to expect some intermittent lane closures along that section of I-69.

The work is expected to be complete at the end of July.

MDOT is also replacing the deck of the J Drive South bridge over I-69. The million dollar project includes painting, pin and hanger replacement, substructure repairs, and approach work. The work is expected to be complete by mid- to late August.

Given the close proximity of the two locations, please be alert while travelling that stretch of the interstate.

Remember, in Michigan, most work zones are posted at 45 mph where workers are present. Motorists caught speeding in work zones are subject to doubled fines and additional points against their driver’s license.

Causing the injury of another person in a work zone is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in prison and $1,000 in fines. Causing the death of a person in a work zone is a felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
